About Me

Vijna Vasudevan is an upcoming performing artiste in Bharatanatyam. Her love and practice of her art has brought her much personal satisfaction and public recognition. Her lucid expressions and talent have earned her acclaim from several critics too. Good rhythmic command, great felicity of expression and pleasing stage presence are her forte. Vijna commenced her training in Bharatnatyam at a tender age under Smt. Sujatha Chandramohan. Since 1996, she has been training under the world renowned dance couple 'The Dhananjayans' at Bharata Kalanjali, Chennai. She has undergone training in Mohiniyattam & Odissi & Carnatic Music.
 
 Vijna has presented several solo performances in Chennai, Kerala, Mumbai, Guwahati and Muscat. She is also an empanelled artiste of ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations).Vijna's repertoire also includes many group recitals and dance productions such as ‚?? 'Sri Krishna Jananam', in which she portrayed the character of Bhoomidevi; 'Mahaabhaaratham' of the Dhananjayans, 'GANGA' of The Anusham Dance Company and 'ANDAL' of Natyarangam (Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai), ‚??APARAAJITHA‚?? of Prof.C.V.Chandrasekhar, ‚??ASHOKA‚?? ‚?? collaboration of Dhwani & Manjeeram Academy of Fine Arts.
 
 She has received several awards and accolades, recognising her for her art. Vijna is a visual communication graduate and is currently pursuing her masters in Bharatanatyam at the University of Madras.

In 2006, she received the prestigious Sur Singar Mani Award from the prestigious Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai, in recognition for the meritorious performance in Kal Ke Kalakar Sangeet Sammelan.

Won the Bronze medal in the Youth Talent Show, Chennai ‚??August 2006

Won prizes in competition held at the Malayalaee Associations in Muscat (1999 ‚?? 2004)
