  Dr L. Subramaniam

Dr. L. Subramaniam is counted amongst the most accomplished instrumentalists of India. A multitalented individual, he is a violinist, a composer and a conductor, all combined into one. Dr. L. Subramaniam has received formal training in the field of classical Carnatic music of South India, along with Western classical music. He has made excellent music compositions in orchestral fusion also.

To know more about Doctor L. Subramaniam, was born on 23rd July 1947 to Lakshminarayana and V. Seethalakshmi. Both his father and mother were talented musicians and because of this background, Subramaniam
developed an interested in music right from childhood. He gave his first public performance at the young age of six. Even after acquiring a doctorate in Medicine, Subramaniam decided to concentrate on music only and continued playing the violin. His first wife, Viji Subramanian passed away on 9th February 1995. He is now living with his second wife Kavita Krishnamoorthy, who is an Indian playback singer.

Dr L. Subramaniam has more than 150 recordings to his credit, apart from symphonys and Carnartic compositions. He has performed in many concerts with famous personalities, like Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar, M. D. Ramanathan, Palghat Mani Iyer, etc. Doctor L Subramaniam has written books on Carnatic music and has even composed Hollywood film scores. He was the featured violin soloist in Bernardo Bertolucci's Little Buddha and Cotton Mary of Merchant-Ivory productions. Last but not the least, he has also written works for Orchestras.
